Our lovely holiday house nestles in natural bushland in the depths of Barnes Bay. Sit on the deck and see the wallabies, brushtail possums and quolls (and resident echidna if you're very lucky). Follow their tracks through the magic xanthorrhoeas (grass trees), some over 200 years old. See the tiny orchids in their season. Listen to and identify the myriad of birds. The fairy penguins are a wonderful experience at The Neck, the narrow land that links North Bruny and South Bruny and we have a torch with red cellophane (so you don't disturb them) for you to experience these special birds.

We are a 20 minute walk from the historic quarantine station, and a 15 minute drive from fabulous sandy beaches for walking/swimming/paddling/sailing, an artisan cheesery and cider distillery, Get Shucked oyster farm and oyster bar, whisky bar, and bush walks short and longer.

Each booking has the whole house to themselves. The number of guests determines the number of bedrooms and bathrooms you can use. We rely on you to be fair about this.

We generally ring guests on morning of their arrival to check probable arrival time (see ferry timetable or ring them) or you can check with us. We meet guests at the house to welcome you and give you the key to Echidna on Bruny.

PLEASE NOTE:
There are no supermarkets on the island so it is best to bring your own food supplies. We supply a 'starter' pack of tea, coffee, sugar, 1 litre of milk, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper ('the usual suspects'). We can help point you to eating places and general stores on the island, but some may involve a drive of 35km or so. We supply wood for the wood heater.
